The quadruplets are 2 months old! We've had all 4 at home for 1 month now and it feels like an eternity....but eternity in a good way type of eternity...like heaven.
For the kids, they've gone through roughly 2,000 diapers in the 2 months since they were born on January 7. That's figuring 8 diapers per kid per day. And if you're curious, it works out to about $6.40 per day for diapers. So that's roughly the cost of 2 Starbucks' coffees per day, which isn't bad...until you realize that's $200/month, which is kind of bad :)
For the adults, since we are relatively housebound these days, we're bringing the party to us. If you bring us hands to hold babies, we bring the wine to you (and Aunt Kelly usually makes dinner :). Depending upon how many people come over to help feed babies at the evening feeds, and at 3-4 bottles of wine per night, Charlie and I estimated we've gone through about 200 bottles of wine since the kiddos were born...clearly a wise investment.
Besides hosting evening baby feeding parties, we have done some other productive activities during the day. The kids went on their first playdate, to meet Aunt Amanda and Uncle Rich Kovalcheck's new baby August.
We went to the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center with all of the babies and Aunt Dana and her kids, to lunch with Aunt Lilly, and of course the kids had to experience their first Happy Hour at Blue Boheme in Kensington with Granny and Aunt Erin.
Miss Molly has been faring quite well with all of the babies. She recently added smacking sound effects to her kisses on the babies' heads. She's relatively well behaved when we take the double strollers out on walks (she runs) and she really likes playing with all of the new baby stuff around the house, This week Molly really got into reading her babies books, all of which feature her favorite (and close to only) word "beach".
Last week we took all of the babies up to Escondido for Aunt Kelly's birthday celebration - where she cooked us a delicious dinner and graciously accommodated our explosion of baby stuff all over her house.
The kids have their 2 month doctor's appointment (and shots!) later this week, but we couldn't wait so we did a home weigh-in today see who's weighing what. Apparently all of these people coming over to help feed our babies are doing a good job, because here's where we're at weight-wise, with a little update on each quadruplet:
- Charlie - 8 lb 9 oz - Baby Charlie is growing into his face and looking less and less like a Keebler elf these days
- Claire - 7 lb 12 oz - Claire learned how to projectile vomit this week, which has contributed greatly to the already massive amount of laundry I'm doing
- Henry - 8 lb 9 oz - Baby Henry found his lungs in the past few days, and when he's hungry his screams can shatter glass
- Dillon - 9 lb 1 oz - Dillon started smiling this week and although it usually accidental smiling, it is the greatest thing ever!
So that's it from our side this week. Next week we are getting geared up for St. Patrick's day, and...spoiler alert....we may be moving out of Newborn and into Size 1 Diapers! Stay tuned...
